Relieve the pain and discomfort from Migraines

HEADACHES & MIGRAINES
Overview
Research indicates upper cervical trauma as an underlying cause for many types of headaches, especially cervicogenic, migraine and tension headaches. Since so many nerves transmit through the cervical region, to and from the brain, trauma to the upper neck area usually results in problems in other parts of the body. If these vertebrae are displaced, chronic headaches can occur. Until and unless the neck injury is addressed, the symptoms persist.
Cervicogenic headaches originates from the cervical spine (neck) and are usually caused by problems with the nerves, bones, or muscles in your neck. This type of headache is usually caused by unnatural or sustained neck positions that can put pressure on the neck and base of the skull. A “pinched”/ compressed nerve in or near the neck may also trigger cervicogenic headache.
Studies have also shown that chiropractic care can help decrease the frequency and intensity of migraines.
Symptoms
- Dull or aching pain affecting the back, upper and top, forehead and eye regions of the head
- Pain on one or both sides of the head
- Stiff neck
- Pain around the eyes
- Pain while coughing or sneezing
- Headache with certain neck movements
- Nausea and vomiting
- Sensitivity to light, noise and/or smell
Treatment and Care
Chiropractic care involves correcting the position of these injured cervical vertebrae. Realigning these vertebrae may reduce or eliminate many types of headaches. Often, patients with chronic headaches will find relief through chiropractic in just a few adjustments as muscles relax and nerve irritation are reduced.
Chiropractic care may also help in preventing the onset of migraines and be utilised in the prevention of recurring migraines and headaches – prevention is better than cure.

“During my first adjustment, I was afraid that it would be painful. But to my surprise, it was not! I could feel an immediate relief of the tension in my neck. My posture and mood is way better now that the pain is no longer there.”
I had tension in my neck for many years, which is accompanied by headaches and dizzy spells. I was referred to a physiotherapist and went for close to 8 months but there not much difference.
